- Elderton aiding the environment
Elderton has been working towards the restoration of the river bank in the Elderton Estate vineyard for a number of years. The North Para River runs through the bottom end of the vineyard and is a vital component of the local area. The restoration has been run in conjunction with Barossa Council and the Adelaide and Mt Lofty Natural Resources Management Board. Stages 1 and 2 are complete. This involved the planting of various native plants to enhance biodiversity on the Elderton Estate and will begin to bring the waterway back to its former state. This project is now an example for others looking to aid gum trees in their local areas. Click here to read an article 'First Aid for Our Gum Trees' from the Barossa Council. This also relates to an NRM education resource pack now available for teachers in which the Elderton example can be seen.
